Born in 1962 in Bushehr, Iran, Daryoush Gharibzadeh began his artistic journey at the age of 14 as a self-taught
photographer. Over time, his passion evolved into filmmaking and fiction writing. His short films have garnered
significant recognition at both Iranian and international film festivals, earning awards such as:
• The Crystal Simorgh at the Fajr Film Festival
• The Silver Medal at UNICA
• The Grand Prize at Eco Ethno Folk (Romania)
• Special Award from the Brno Festival (Czech Republic)
• Grand Prize at the Kélibia Film Festival (Tunisia)
In addition to film, Gharibzadeh is the celebrated author of two short story collections, Tashbad and Under the Tree of
Babel , both of which achieved multiple reprints within months of release.
He has conducted numerous workshops in screenwriting and filmmaking across Iran and served on the jury of several
short film festivals. Since 2009, he has focused on a long-term documentary project in the mountains of Bushehr,
living and filming among cave-dwelling communities that live in complete harmony with nature.
